Coconut Island, or Moku o Loʻe is one of many snorkel sites that Holokai Adventures visits. The Island is known for it's history; from being the Hollywood filming site for "Gilligan's Island," to a playboy billionaire's private mansion.
Coconut Island has gone through vast changes in the last century. Lucky for us, it also happens to be an incredible habitat for coral, hawaiian green sea turtles, and countless reef fish. The Island is currently leased to the Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology at University of Hawai'i. For more History on the island and what it has to offer www.hawaii.edu/himb/history.
