The Guided Kayak and Snorkel Adventure starts at He’eia State Park at a filming location of Jurassic World! Your kayak will be set up for you right on the water’s edge, ready to go! But first we’ll outfit you with a dry bag, snorkeling gear, and life jackets; and your professional guide will give a land-based educational and safety briefing and paddling instruction. You may journey to Coconut Island, home of the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology (and the real Gilligan’s Island), or one of the bay’s many unique patch reefs. In either case, it will be a beautiful snorkeling destination among some of Oahu’s healthiest coral reef.
Along the way, explore Kane’ohe Bay’s protected waters in search of sea turtles, rays, and tropical fish in their natural habitat. While on the water, you’ll learn more about the bay’s history, the different types of reef and marine life you might see, and also some of the challenges facing our marine ecosystems. By the time you land your kayak back at He’eia State Park’s waterfront, you’ll be sure to have worked up an appetite for the delicious BBQ lunch that will be ready and waiting for you!
The calm, reef protected waters of Kane’ohe Bay make it a perfect place for paddlers, snorkelers, and ocean lovers of all ages and experience levels! Our Self-Guided Kayak and Snorkel Discovery Package at $109/person includes complimentary transportation to and from Waikiki Hotels/free on-site parking at He’eia State Park, your kayak, snorkeling gear, and all the accessories you need, plus land-based education and instruction, use of He’eia State Park’s venue and facilities, and our delicous BBQ lunch!
